We finally get back on our Friday track with The Gaming Buzz for September 4, 2009.

Buzz on Twitter:

  • 1. World of Warcraft – PC - 120,929
  • 2. Batman: Arkham Asylum – Multi - 13,469
  • 3. Shadow Complex – Xbox 360 12,851 – 12,851
  • 4. Rock Band – Multi - 12,618
  • 5. Madden NFL 2010 – Multi - 12,012
  • 6. The Sims 3 – PC - 8,811
  • 7. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – Multi - 7,669
  • 8. Halo 3 – Xbox 360 – 7,047
  • 9. Diablo III – PC - 5,710
  • 10. Second Life – PC - 5,030

What a difference a week makes. Yes, those World of Warcraft numbers are WEEKLY, not monthly. Monthly figures are at 172,000. You can thank the announcement of Cataclysm for the eruption of WoW tweets. News about the Monk class at Blizzcon has made Diablo III jump onto the list for the first time; it’s exciting to see that people have gotten over the supposed new happy colorful color scheme.

The Sims 3 has yet to recover from being bounced out of second place and hasn’t yet creeped back up over 10,000 tweets Batman is well known at this point, but Shadow Complex is not. It’s a new Xbox Live Arcade title partially developed by Gears of War head Cliff Blezinsky. It’s based on an Orson Scott Card novel with a game script written by Peter David.

As for the rest of the games, Rock Band is gaining buzz from the impending (September 9) new release of The Beatles: Rock Band. Another upcoming title, Brutal Legend seems to be the topic of conversation with 2,687 tweets. Hopefully now that the legal challenges have been ironed out, we’ll see the game actually coming out soon.
